About me
I'm the crazy cat lady. There's my cat Violet doing her Cher impersonation. Actually, I only have two cats so I'm not totally kooky. My other cat is Judy and boy is she a real nut job. I'd post a picture of the "work" she's done on my couch, but that would be embarrassing.
I'm married to a wonderful man. His name is Erik, but it's not spelled with a C, it's spelled with a K. It goes better with our very oddly spelled Norwegian name. I used to be a Johnson, but now I'm one of a kind. Erik and I met at a bar in San Francisco and got hitched a year-and-a half later in Las Vegas on September 11, 1999. We've got two super creative kids who like to paint and write just like their parents. If only they had math skills!
Let's see. I've always liked to write, but I didn't really pursue it very seriously until I attended Goucher College's MFA in Creative Nonfiction program in 2008. I worked with some wonderful mentors who all thought I was a bit quirky and grammatically challenged. There was Diana Hume George, Suzannah Lessard, Tom French and Jacob Levenson. They all had to put up with me for a semester and for that I'm eternally grateful. I learned a lot and met a bunch of cool people in the process. If it were up to me, I'd always be a student.
Right now I live in the big ass state of Texas. I blog. I'm a card carrying member of the PTA. I like Scrabble, but not the online version as it's way too easy to cheat. I like to knit and wash dishes. I'm an excellent driver. I'm an INFP. I used to smoke like a chimney, but now I just abuse cliche phrases and suck on nicotine lozenges.
I love David Sedaris, Mary Roach and anything that makes me laugh and think at the same time. I'm technologically stupid, but I did manage to get this website up and running which is like a total miracle.
Thanks for stopping by.
